ConnexCS are delighted to announce our latest development, a stand-alone WebRTC WebPhone application which runs directly within your browser.

Why use a WebPhone?

By using our WebPhone you can quickly and easily make calls from your browser. This saves you time installing and setting up softphones or configuring handsets.

Furthermore, users can utilise the softphone from their mobile phones by creating a shortcut to the webpage. This will allow them to make and receive calls by allowing push notifications.

What features are available within the WebPhone?

The WebPhone contains the following features:

  • Dial Pad
  • Call History
  • Contacts
  • Settings
  • Balance
  • Payment Options

Can I resell this to my customers?

We can rebrand the platform with your brand name so you can provide this service to your clients. Existing clients can even use the same login credentials for their current extensions allowing them to move to the Webphone easily.

You will also have the ability to hide and show some features such as the balance to give you greater control over what users see.

New clients can easily sign up to the service and quickly using a simple web form and get dialling quickly by adding credit.

For ConnexCS customers with dialler clients we can integrate the Webphone to remove the need for users to download and configure a softphone.

Can calls be blocked?

SIP calls can traditionally be blocked by ISP providers which restrict ports 50/60. In some countries, blocking ports 50/60 is standard and users are forced to use traditional communication or find workarounds with VPN’s. These options can sometimes effect the quality of the call.

ConnexCS WebPhone uses a new method to pass firewalls where SIP runs over WebRTC and media runs over ports. Data is encrypted intrinsically as a requirement to protect your privacy.

How does the ConnexCS WebPhone work?

ConnexCS WebPhone is a WebRTC (Real-Time Communications) application using PWA (Progressive Web Application).

WebRTC is a browser protocol which runs on top of an HTTPS connection. ConnexCS WebPhone uses WebRTC (HTTPS port 443) for SIP Signaling and WebSockets (random UDP ports) for the Media.

A PWA is an application written inside the web browser. It uses modern API and has the potential to replace traditional proprietary app-stores.

The ConnexCS WebPhone runs directly from a browser without the need to install anything. If the user wishes to install the application, additional functionality can become available (ex: push notification capabilities while the app is closed).

This means that the application has cross-platform functionality, including Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, etc.

ConnexCS WebPhone Security

ConnexCS WebPhone encrypts all information (Signaling & Media) between the browser and the ConnexCS platform. This is accomplished by leveraging TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocol support on the underlying browsers.

If you would like to set up the ConnexCS WebPhone you can find the documentation here: Connex CS WebPhone Documentation.
